The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, also known as Section 8, waitlist is currently closed. The Housing Authority will announce the opening of the HCV Wait List in The Californian and Monterey Herald newspapers. A previous waitlist opening was July 1, 2024 - July 12, 2024. Once the wait list application process closes, HACM will run a lottery to place the first 5,000 applicants on the wait list. Eligibility will be determined based upon HUD Income Limits (75% of families selected from the wait list must be at 50% of Area Median Income for the family size) at the time of selection from the waiting list. HACM also determines program eligibility based upon criminal background checks, and previous program compliance.
