Ohioans can receive rent and utility assistance through their local Community Action Agencies. You can find out whether or not you are eligible and apply at your nearest CAA. Check the Agency directory for your local agency.

How to apply
Renters will need the following information when they apply for assistance.
1. Name of every household member
2. Dates of birth
3. Current Address
4. Social Security numbers and copies of Social Security cards
5. Proof of income for every household member 18 or older
6. Evidence of financial hardship related to COVID
7. Additional documentation demonstrating need

For rental assistance, you will also need:
1. Total amount of past due rent including late fees
2. If moving, justification for the move (homelessness, overcrowding)
3. Lease or rental agreement and landlord contact information

To receive utility assistance, you will need a copy of your utility bill.
