Littleton Colorado - South Metro Housing Options Opens 2 Waitlists

South Metro Housing Options (SMHO), a public housing authority in Littleton, will open its housing choice voucher waitlist for one day only this month. Additionally, a waitlist for one-bedroom apartments at Sierra Vista Apartments in unincorporated Arapahoe County will be open for two weeks.

SMHO provides housing for families, students, professionals, seniors, and disabled adults and administers voucher programs. Applicants from any jurisdiction must be 18 years or older and have a valid email address.

The housing choice voucher waitlist, which subsidizes rent to allow recipients to choose their preferred private market properties, will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19. The waitlist will close earlier if full.

The Sierra Vista Apartments waitlist will run from 8 a.m. on April 14 to 5 p.m. on April 27. These newly renovated, income-restricted apartments offer tenants project-based rental assistance via SMHO. The waitlist for two-bedroom apartments in the complex will not be opened this month.

Applicants may apply to one or both waitlists via an online pre-application at https://onlineportal.smho.co. No paper pre-applications will be accepted. The pre-application form requests general information, and SMHO recommends using local library resources for internet and computer access if needed.

Placement on a waitlist is determined by the date and time of pre-application submission, with no means of preference or priority. Applicants can check their status and update their information via the online portal and must ensure the contact details on their pre-application are kept up to date.

Those who reach the top of a waitlist will be contacted to proceed with the application process for either housing choice or project-based vouchers. Only one pre-application may be submitted per family to avoid rejection. Any reasonable accommodation requests should be directed to Helen Hoy on 303-794-9608.

You can contact South Metro Housing Options (SMHO) at the following phone number: 303-794-9608. Their office hours are between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays or visit their website directly at https://www.smho.co/
